One man's junk is another's treasure.  However, if you have a Seller who has controversial artwork up or many religious items out, I would suggest they move them.  My husband met a Seller who had many, let's say, German artifacts strewn about the home and logos all over.  He said he would list the property only if the items were removed.  It can become an issue of security for the home; particularly if perceived as hate group, etc....I remind Sellers that Buyers need to be focused on the home, not the personal items contained therein.  I have not had any resistance.

When it comes to the seller listing their home with not so nice furniture I would sugest a thing or two to make it a litle more appealing to the buyer. As far a the buyer well beauty is in the eye of the beholder so it is irrelevent in that case.

Jack Lewitz I don't have any feelings either way. Its just their taste might not agree with mine. Everyone has their own opinion.

Bad taste is an opinion.  It might not be everyone's cup of tea but some may like it.  I can only give advice on what I feel the majority likes.

I don't express my opinon one way or another unless it is a seller and there are things he can do to stage his home and get a quicker sale. Then it becomes business and in his best interests to cooperate.

And that goes for houses as well, just because we don't like it, there is a buyer out there who will love it. Sometimes it's hard to keep our mouth shut when we see something in bad taste. Or what WE perceive of as bad taste. Picassos go for millions, after all, and frankly, that's not my taste.

It is of no concern to me if a buyer or seller has bad taste.

I understand that what others embrace is their personal decision and any interference or attempt to persuade is invalidating their LIVES, not their tastes.

Be aware, bad tastes does not mean bad behavior.

Be aware, bad taste does not mean treating others without respect and honor.

Bad taste is Tommy Bahama at a funeral.

Now, if I were asked, 'Should I wear this?" I would respond with, "If you wore this other and that other, folks will respond to you this way."

If may be 'this way' is not their intent but their intent is entirely based on the 'tastes' they have developed. Such as bad attention is better than no attention at all.

Now, when the 'bad taste' raises their hand and makes an offer that imposes their bad taste on me....now I've got a decision to make.

Who am I to dictate someone's taste?  People like what they like and it's my job to help find the property that is great for them.

Jack,

We had a marble foyer in our home in Los Angeles, I remember hearing an agent saying, "it was in bad taste and out of style!" We both like marble.  Taste is a personal issue, and you are not the arbiter of good or bad taste as an agent.  A
