I am friendly throughout the deal-why would anyone be otherwise?

I try to keep it civil when friendly is unavailable.    Sometimes, agents forget it is their clients' deal, not their own.  And others can't leave the ego at the door.

I always have a friendly and good attitude toward other agents unless and until I think they are out to cause my clients harm in some way. Then the gloves come off.  Mind you it's very rare in my market that we're not friendly and very cooperative.

We are a small board with less than a thousand agents and most of us know each other and are very pleasant during the transaction but we still represent our clients first.

I don't see why not.  Especially when the transaction gets difficult, it is much easier to deal with and get through when everyone remains pleasant.

Most of the time it is, but there are some that think the transaction (and the world) revolves around them...

Richie - I don't see why not. I have had some transactions where I was very impressed with the other agent, and we worked very well together. Then again, I have had other transactions where the other agent acted like they hated me and had to one up me on everything.

As you know I live in an extremely rural area. I do deals with agents I'm friends with all the time. I like this. We can usually work well together. At times, though, we do have to remind ourselves that each of us is working for our buyer or seller and not to take it personally.

Just answered a post that is similar. I say stick with business bonding and not personal bonding. As REALTORS® we should stay clear headed, be ready to be the buffer, as well as the voice of reason.

Most of the time agents do get along, communication and doing what you are suppose to do, goes a long way in keeping it friendly.

None, as far as I'm concerned, Richie. I work very hard to be collegial with all cooperating brokers and truly love a transaction where I know one well and whom I consider a friend. We really work harder then to make it an easy transaction for all involved.

I try my best to keep things cordial and friendly at all times. Some agents lack negotiating skills so they seem to think bullying or yelling or "I've been in the business X amount of years" will work and when that happens, things tend to become unfriendly quick! ~Marisa
