I like working in my business more but make sure to keep working on it as well.

On is much more effective if you want to create a business worth working in.

Michael Thornton Ideally, Working on the business is what one should do -however, they end up working in the business - and that includes me, too

Both but working on it is easier because I can work on the business late at night, early in morning on my time from anywhere but I can't hold an open house, show a property or give a listing presentation at midnight.

To answer the question: I love working on my business (more) because I'm global, but working in my business daily, is required too. It's about balancing my roles each week: I wear 3 hats; CEO (in & on the business split) COO (in the business mostly) CFO (on the Business mostly). Although I love the CEO role; the deal maker & visionary, I know I have to put in COO & CFO time or I have no business to be CEO of. It's all about time blocking all three roles each week. My days are unevenly split between CEO & COO and CFO is a once per week type of role for now. Both have in and on requirements ultimately.

I like both- yesterday I was showing properties to a very nice man - a great condo on a lake in Reston - it was beautiful and so much fun to see - but then seeing the business grow is great!
