The whole idea in any job is to do a great job.  Does it matter where you come from if you cannot do the job.  In our field of commercial real estate Roger Staubach (football great)  started a commercial real estate company that specialized in relocating large ccompanies.  He definitely could get in the door with his fame to the decision makers, because of his celeb recognition...that was not enough, he had to be able to perform and really represent these people for the best deal, and he did.  A

Good for them. 

What I have discovered, with rare exception, those who have reached the pinnacle of their chosen field did not achieve it by being stupid even if playing stupid is how they earned their dollars.

They have an advantage. They are going to play it. (SMART).
