I run into "that" agent about every 5th deal or so. When I was a new, streetwise agent, I'd belittle them and make them feel small. That made the deal worse, at times it killed the deals and my clients lost. I left those ways behind, now, I try to help them as much as I can and I ask my TC to do the same. Do I like that I have to do this, not so much, but, here's what I've found:
1. my client wins because I'm smoothing the process for the better.
2. Occasionally it's just an agent that is new, not bad and really is trying, but also trying to hide they are new out of fear. These agents really respond well to my polite offers and the deal goes better.
3. Some are just a-holes ( so I mentally picture a 5 year old) and suck it up like a parent would for a child in a tantrum, long enough to make the occasional needed call or e-mail to sort out the issue; I stay "even-keel" on the phone and curse them after I hang up privately.
Occasionally we have to call brokers (go over their head).
The big picture is getting that house bought or sold best we can for our clients. We get paid to "spare the drama for our mamas" and deliver the goods.

It's happened. Once or twice I've called the broker and asked them to get mentoring help for the agent.

WAY too often. At least 20% of the time.
We were all beginners and needed guidance, though. For us, that guidance came from our broker, but not everyone has a great broker. We can forgive the agent who just doesn't have the experience yet.
It's a totally different story with an agent who doesn't bother to do their job.

Really not very often. The agents in our market are pretty good. Maybe less than 5 in 8 years.

This does happen. I'm just prepared to do what I have to do to get the transaction closed.

First, I have never co-oped with another agent. If I did, it would probably be an agent not sure how to accomplish the task and is looking for my expertise. And I would only comply if that agent will be working in my brokerage so that would be training for him/her.

Way to often|!
Many new agents who really have no idea of what is going on...lack of training,

we make sure the deal is finished in a timely fashion and finished properly..... we don't care if the other agent is lousy....we don't have time to waste complaining about agents...

Your commitment to your client is to bring the transaction to a successful close. While it may be unfortunate that you feel that the other side is not holding up their end of the pending sale, I think may need to turn the mirror backwards and see how you are treating the other agent. Maybe your actions are causing some of the problem. If it's a newbie, give them a break. If it's an agent from out of the area, work with them, if it's something else, talk to the agent, else have your broker talk to them - - but never get your client tangled up in the mix.

When the other agent does not know what to do, let's hope that they allow us to take care of the process to get to settlement.
There is no shortage of inexperienced real estate agents.

It happens. Though, lately it seems to be happening more often than not.

Rarely. And most of the time it is when an out of area agent sells one of my listings and has no MLS access. But for my sellers I do what it takes to get to closing.

I tell them "I'm driving" in a joking sweet way, try and mentor them but get to the finish line without pointing any fingers. It means do all the work and smile be happy to have the job ahead

About 1 in 10 deals I'd say, lots of new agents right now.
I think it has to do with those Million Dollar Listing TV shows, they make our job seem so easy for a quick 6 figure check. They do learn quick or most are gone within the first year.

Sadly way too often-it seems down here a lot of new agents just think they need to be pretty/sexy to do the job-so unprofessional.

Never.
Casting such judgements on others is not a reflection on them.
I simply do what ever is need to get to the end.
Next time HE/SHE pops up, just like a known rogue inspector, corrective actions is taken, to protect my client, BEFORE the engagement.
