Every agent should have their own website beyond just the company template. If you want a perfectly good website for not a lot of money, check out websitebox.com. My website is www.DianneGoode.com and they have a lot of other examples of what people have done.

I have a few of them, some created more by me than others, all with at least some development by my hand.

I have some personal sites & I'm partial to Wordpress. I think Weebly is pretty good, but they increased their costs, so I just use their free services. Thankfully, my domain with them was previously registered already.

This question really comes down to time and skill. I have one which I created myself. I have created several websites in the past few years for agents too. Not to quote Liam Neeson, but, I have a particular set of skills... which include CSS & HTML code writing. I am a fan of WordPress too.
For agents without the time to learn or the skill to code I would look for a 3rd party firm to build it. However, remember to CHANGE THE CONTENT!!! This will help your SEO and your Branding.

The infrastructure was created and is maintained by someone else, but the content is mine. It came with content, but I've replaced it all with custom information/copy to improve SEO. The infrastructure is just too complex to duplicate on my own, because it includes a whole CRM, listing, lead capture, and email system, which also imports leads from other websites.

I had the template created for www.jmloans.com but most of the content is my own.

After many years of having a template site, I finally just had a developer build me a personal site. I wish I'd done it 10 years ago and saved 11 years of paying for someone else's site.
