Tony - I think it has been tried several times over the years. The problem is you won't see this change unless everyone in the industry changes at the same time.
Who would pay hourly for a service when they can go somewhere else and get it for free. That is why when brokerages have tried this in the past, they have not had any success.

Tough to change a business model that works so well for the consumer.
Far too independent group to ever organize and force consumers to pay for their time rather than for the results.
Too bad that all businesses don't charge based on production like this one does.
Of course, most employees would starve if they had to produce...
Some years back there was acompany out in a westeern state was going t try this...Never really took off.
Failure of the NAR to react to the pressures of their competition will surely bring them to their knees. They are in reaction mode at this moment and need to reign in those forces by being proactive. It might be a case of too little too late. I expect the changes to happen within the next decade if no correction is made.

it is here now. yes. thats our local help you sell is based on a time per dollar ratio. he has each step down in terms of price per item. on the buying side, they havent perfected it yet. but i see it coming soon to an area near you. especially if you are the best in the area. top notch and all, you should be able to charge per hour or job. like a lawyer or accountant.

Maybe one day. I see discount brokerages getting paid upfront $500.00 even if the house sells or not.
I don't see that happening any time soon.
Not unless no one was still working the traditional way we do now.

Real estate services in the future may be available at your local branch bank. Our antiquated industry needs many improvements.
I have seen it in small instances. I would love to see it become the norm. Get paid for the hours I wok? What a concept! :)
