A gold plated sink and a gold plated toilet are not items that would add to the value of a home.  I think that many love the extra convenience and like Raymond E. Camp said, it makes a difference if you live there a long time.  For all the luxury homes I have seen, no gold plated sinks have shown up or toilets for that matter.  Happy Sunday, A

I know the differences but if the client is going to be there past the five year mark it may be conveniences they want.

When I take a listing, I always ask what was done and suggest what shouuld be done to create the best first impression. I've been recently to a house that had many excessive features, the extremely rare tile and custom made sinks are just few to mention. The guy knows that he would never get his money back selling that house( bought for 8mln, invested 8mln in renovation), but he is building his dream house~ not anyone's else; the house is for him and he wants the best).
