I amaze myself regarding the volumes of the worlds most useless information that is occupying space in my brain. For example, there is only one state in the USA with no natural lakes. Who could possibly care?

Unfortunately, we do not have a 'clear disk' function to remove the clutter.

The puzzle is when do you know you don't need to know that a baby kangaroo is called a Joey?  Might come in handy if you select the "Jumping" category on Jeopardy.

I do remember a lot of stuff but it is mostly fun facts and business information so I think it helps me. Show me a picture of a famous actor or music person and I can not tell you who they are. So I guess I fill my mind with stuff that seems important to me, knowlege most people seem to just know I don't know at all.

I do this all of the time. It is so easy to lose focus.

I do.  I like learning new things and curious how things are done. Yet, it is not about how much or how little you know, but about ''know-it-all-attitude''~ that can be quite annoying.

Actually my wife thinks I should go on one of those trivia shows.

Paul, I have so much useless information crammed into my head!  There should be some way short of a lobotomy to clear it out.

Going into college in 2004, I had to unlearn to make room for what they wanted me to learn. They missed the mark but that is what you must do to get a degree. Then, after graduating with highest honors possible, I unlearned it all and returned to my present state. I know what I must know, as I go, and I get there, wherever there is. Works every time too. I can't say I have to know all that I do but I'm an information resource for a lot of people and find it useful.

Yes.   It's crowded in there.   I'm always glad when something good comes out.

I do not do it intentionally but I have one of those memories that if I see it, hear it or read it, I remember it. This goes all the way back to when I was 2 years old so I have a head full of useless information. I am fun at reunions though!

I love to read all kinds of subjects.  I have not had an instant of where info was useless.  I remember a life and death incident, when my father's memory of what someone may think of as useless information saved the lives of everyone in the camp including my mother's when he was supervising construction in Saudi Arabia.  A

Nope, not at all. In this day and age, it's more about knowing how and where to access information on an as-needed basis.

I seek to learn things that I WANT to know, whether I NEED to know them or not.  My husband was a scientist.  He was very intelligent but didn't have space in his brain for the little things.  He had a great sense of direction, though.  LOL

Not if I can access it easily, that is - know where to find it if I need it.

Only with info I want to know.  Otherwise, it is available elsewhere.

Paul - I think sometimes by accident I probably do fill my head with useless information. However, I am certainly not a walking encyclopedia like the people I know you are talking about.

I mostly fill my head with information I need to know.

I then to know a lot of trivia, it is always fun to ask people questions about trivia.
