I don't know what I CAN do about it. I do plan on doing a lot of playing in the snow in the mountains, and I'll be hoping the flooding isn't too bad.

John,
The forecasters are 95% sure. I am looking forward to it. It is not supposed to be as intense as 1997, and we welcome it. If you are in flood zones, I would not rule out having sandbags ready as well as other precautions. A

Fixing the roof on one of my homes that has some iffy places on it and some other exterior work. Have already put in all new windows this year. We have enough wood for our wood stove to last for at least a year. Yes, I am taking it very seriously. Had planned on some interior renovations first, but changed my mind. That I can always do in the winter when it rains like crazy outside. At least I hope so. This drought in California is pretty devastating.

I was around for the 97 El Nino and a weaker one a few years back. I'm excited for this being the "Godzilla" of El Ninos, primarily because I'm a huge nerd who loves Godzilla movies (except the Matthew Broderick one).
I wish I could say "I'm buying a boat" but in reality, I have checked my rain gutters and my drains and I know the problem areas in my yard (a huge slope and a big dead agave near my power lines). I have a long history of teaching disaster prepardeness to the community and I practice what I preach. I am very well prepared, but will be stocking up on things just to be safe. My only downfall is power. So far I don't have any good backup power systems.

I am in northern CA, most of the trees that have been around from the 1950s are dieing.... Water rationing. They say there is a 95% chance it will be a normal year. Most of rain if anything is north of SF anyway.
I am waiting for water district H2O saving plan app to be approved. It will be taking forever. I will use water drought tolerant plants....

I think it will happen based on what I have heard and read.
Not much I can do about it.

I'm not in CA. I'm in CO. I'm reading the information on it. It could mean a harsh winter for us. It will be interesting to see what actually happens.

I have reason to beleive that unusal weather is a coming and probably overdue too. I say, let it come already.

With some prognosticators and weather experts calling this the Godzilla of all El Nino's since they've been keeping track of them in the '50's I wouldn't be too cavalier or leave anything to chance.
From what I've been hearing as an avid surfer with his ear constantly to the sea it all depends on the tradewinds. If they weaken and all signs are pointed in that direction then we could be in for a whopper of an event.
But given all the conjecture my main concern is for the safety and preparation of those unwary homeowners who haven't taken any proactive safety precautions.
