Hi Mark, creating a shortcut url is fairly simple, but it may not work for members only blog posts.

Go to the top of your post, click the short url button, then select and copy the short url.

You got the answer and I'll add that you can track the short URL clicks on the far right column of your stats page. 

you just click on short URL on your post and then copy and paste the short url that will show up.
