I like the carved pumpkins but they do not last as long.  So use em as decorations.  Mark

They are fun to carve, but I haven't done that in a few years. I will probably buy a few to have on the patio. 

Sometimes I've used them without the carving.

I have never carved a pumpkin in my life.  Maybe I should put that on my bucket list.

Ours are used for pies and other tasty treats, jack o lanterns seem rather wasteful.

Captain Wayne - Is it not a little early for pumpkins? It's not even October yet, and don't they rot after a while?

We don't buy one, at all, actually. 

I haven't done anything in Years Captain Wayne but I used to love carving pumpkins and baking the seeds and munching on them.

I carve, paint with flourescent paint and small ones become pies or cheesecakes.

The kids love to carve the pumpkins and compete on who can carve the coolest or scariest designs.   Somehow I always get stuck removing the guts

People used to rely on this for a food source. Now its a fun source?

It's tough to keep 'em going for more than a week and that's with some delicate stencil work that doesn't invole traditional carving. We hit 90 today and if it stays near there it'll be rough for the Jack-O-Lanterns this year.

We use them for Pie.

I neither carve or use them for decoration although I have enjoyed eating pumpkin.  It's not just for pie anymore.

No.  And we don't eat them either.

I no longer carve them but will uses some small ones for decor and then cut them and cook the pulp for pies.
