I almost never use Facebook except to manage my business pages, it is a big waste of time, unless you can turn it into a lead generating machine for real estate like I use it.

I think it's a personal choice, Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 .
I know many who have not even created Facebook account.
Do they miss the 'boat'? Perhaps they don't care or they 'fly'!

I did this once and they make it hard to do at that time. Finally, toward the end, little messages of pleading come up from a list of your contacts saying...you don't want me anymore? You are going to leave me? etc. Annoying, unprofessional and desperate methinks...

No and no. Facebook is a good means to market and is still the #1 social site. Plus it is how I keep up with my out of town/state/country friends (on my personal page). For business I get some good mileage out of it.

I work a niche market, and my recent Fb ad for my listing has been useful for my business to streamline my target demographic to push out the ad and understand who is looking at it through insights.

Love to know why he did cancel.
It's a personal decision to do so, for 40+ marketing I like it still & I have many private groups I enjoy Q&A sessions with I'd hate to lose.
Facebook is dead to the predominately under 30 though; they left long ago for Pinterest, and the other latest trends.

In spite of all the annoying things about it, I still love Facebook. It is an important part of my social life. I don't think I'll ever delete my Facebook account... unless I have to start paying for it.
P.S.: Interesting article about Ben.

Annette, I know many people in here swear by Facebook for business. I have never devoted the time. Nor do I care to start with yet another time consuming social media program. So I enjoy seeing what real friends and family are doing, I can go a month without opening. So I guess the answer is yes to deleting FB account. Mark

No. I do not plan to delete my Facebook account.
I have a much bigger following on Facebook than on ActiveRain.

I know many that are not having the results with Facebook that they used to. I need a break from it too.

As the article shared in the "In his own words" section this was one of many 'value' decisions he made. Perhaps, by example, he is suggesting a real cost is associated with SM engagement that is fragmenting and costly.

This is the first I've heard of that. I won't be deleting my FB account.

He still has a business page. And lots of people deactivate for a period for one reason or another. Sometimes at the advice of an attorney.

I am not a follower and no I would not delete my FB acct for multiple reasons.

I wouldn't. I keep up with a lot of people, including clients, via facebook.
