I've seen fire, I've seen rain and I've seen days that would never end...
but I've never seen a day I wouldn't show homes.

I would wait until the storm lessened. Don't think homeowners would be too thrilled about having dripping wet buyers in their home. I can not honestly answer if I had an out of town buyer that was working within a time constraint. I'd have to decide when faced with that situation.

Neither rain nor snow or threat of darkness stops old Noah from trying to make a sale.

If it felt extremely dangerous I would ask the buyer if we could reschedule. Debra makes a good point about homeowners not wanting wet floors.

Anna,
I did once for an out of state client (he was leaving that afternoon) who wanted to see a space in a building that was under construction. It was raining hard, I would not have done it, if the person was staying longer. A

Anna Banana Kruchten No, I don't believe I would. I don't think sellers would appreciate people running through their home with wet shoes and dripping umbrellas.

I would defer the showings unless the prospects have a very limited amount of time to see homes.

The only weather condition that would stop me would be ice on the road.

It makes more sense to wait a short while for the storm to pass.

It can get insanely intense here and I rarely will take the chance. Worse yet is when the sky is blue and an errant bolt strikes near.

I have been caught many times in a thunderstorm while showing. I don't think we would leave the office during one though.

We are like the mail carriers, Rain, Sleet snow and thunderrstorms don't keep us away from our work showing homes. Tornado warnings are a different story!

If it met my criteria and vetting...you bet. If mailmen can do it, agents can too

No. Here in San Diego, when we have heavy rains, there are often 100-200 accidents a day. Nothing in real estate is urgent enough to take that kind of risk.

it never seems to rain where I live to I can't really answer.. I would love to see a little rain...

Probably the buyer would cancel before I had to make that decision, but yes...I do what needs to be done.

I would wait until it was safe for all. Unless there is a larger point to test fate why would you?
2,470,511
it would depend on the client's time frame - just in town for a day - yes - long term looker - no.

the only exception I might make and go is if the buyers are on a time crunch, but I sure would try to wait until the storm passed.

Yes, I showed a house in near hurricane conditions a couple years ago. Both buyer and wife showed up. But on that one, we only had to run about 50 yards to the covered porch, and house was vacant. Probably wouldn't do it on an occupied house unless we could pull into their garage.

My answer is two words. The first starts with "H" and is four letters long, the second is "NO!!!!"
My safety is worth WAY more than any potential commission check! It doesn't rain much out here in So Cal, so any rains causes traffic wrecks of biblical proportions. I'd rather NOT go to the hospitaly any time soon.

If the client was ready to buy, probably. I showed homes in a neighborhood that was expecting a tornado this past summer.
