a little under half. I have a building with 9 machines/9 working stations, equipment, and quite a bit of overhead involved to run this show but it is worth it. It takes money to make money sometimes, and the more I invest, the more profitable success I have experienced. Great question, Carol, if you are just starting out to run your own business, your very own company. Good luck!

I find that my business expenses are fairly low, since I work out of my house. I do mainly free to low cost advertising, so that isn't bad. I'd say my biggest expenditures are board membership fees.
All in all, I think it is not an easy thing to quantify, but I am pretty sure it is in the <20% range.

Carol Williams I usually budget 25% for business expenses and put aside another 25% for taxes. Hopefully, I can get some of that back at tax time.

You're right about hearing about the possible income but seldom about the expenses. I always used 60-70% on the expense side early on, but as time went by, the expense side got smaller.

I reinvest most of my money, and will continue to until close to retirement.
