Sally & David,
I have installed business phone systems nationwide. VOIP is great when it is up and working. I suggest you keep at least one land line that your calls can come into in case (when) the VOIP goes down.

Yes. We used to use Vonage. We've been using Ooma for several years now, better quality and the price is right - FREE! Only pay federal taxes - less than $4 per month. The initial purchase of the device is just over $100 - see www.ooma.com for more information.

I have an Ooma at the house but it doesn't fax very well for some reason. no one ever calls me on my house phone so I just might get rid of it.

I do and love it. I use 8x8 for my offices and it really helps to stay connected. If I am not at my desk I can answer a call on my cell phone via the app. The price is also great and quality is awesome.

Yes. I used to use the one from my cable company, Time Warner Cable, but those slimeballs sold my number to every telemarketer and robo dialer they could! After a couple years of 10:1 spam to legitimate calls I switched to MagicJack. I pay $35 a year (less than what I used to pay time warner) and I have not had ONE spam call in the three years I've had the service!
Quality of calls is great. Easy to install and setup. Can even put an app on my tablet or a phone and make calls from that number anywhere in the world where I have wifi. Rock on! Oh, and no taxes on the line!
