We've already celebrated Thanksgiving. I'm currently buying for Halloween and after Remembrance Day, I will begin for Christmas. We do not do the "Black Friday" nonsense up here.

Praful,
There is nothing I want And certainly nothing I need. But if Black Friday has a deal I might be tempted.

Canadian Thanksgiving is done for this year. Black Friday is an American event, not Canadian, however some of the American chains have started in the past few years to try to have "Black Friday" events in Canada at the same time but it is not the same.

Thankfully this is a job that my wife takes on. I wouldn't begin until the day before or the day of but ultimately give cash if it were left to me.

Nope, I'm a slacker on holiday shopping. I usually just order stuff online though, I hate the holiday crowds, it's terrible how the holidays bring out the worst in people when it comes to retail shops.

Not yet. If I am in the market for something I will wait till Black Friday. Last year I needed a new laptop and bought a Macbook Pro on Black Friday. I actually have to go to some huge mall during that weekend because for some reason it gets me into the holiday mood - the throngs of people, the Xmas decorations, etc. Call me insane!!
However every year it seems to start earlier. Everyone has Christmas stuff out. Thanksgiving is just a blip anymore and hardly even that.

I have begun looking and if I see anything good, I will buy it now. No need to deal with Black Friday stress, especially since I will be on vacation with my folks at that time anyway :)

Which holiday? Halloween? Thanksgiving? Christmas? The retailers have ruined the seasonality of holidays and will ultimately hurt themselves in generating buyer exuberance to go out and shop by pre-emptively promoting holidays too early.
