Yes, it's a great thing for folks on a budget to do repairs/remodeling. It's also my choice for newspaper recycling as they have a collection bin there and they get a part of the value.
Gita Bantwal, Restore is a 'retail' shop for Habitat for Humanity. Builders can donate left over materials, they'll take functional appliances, etc. Not quite like a home improvement store with stock choices, but a great thing anyway.

I sometimes check garage/yard sales that are very popular in my area. And I do visit donation centers since I donate often and when I'm there, I check if I can find something I can restore. I'm in love with older era furniture.

Yes and we just donated a couple of items that a builder didn't use in a recent project we handled. New toilet, vanity and fixtures all going to a good cause!
