No, Paul, this is not one I've ever run into! What a scream (but not for you). I did have a client who complained once because the inspector didn't find enough things wrong with the house! (There was nothing to find and she lives quite happily in it today without issues and she did pay for the inspection.)

No....the contract is between the client and inspector....gnerous of you to pay him.

The buyer sounds like a real 'piece of work' that should be fired.

Lucky for me that has never happened.  It would be like not paying a Doctor because he discovered you had cancer.

NO! Have had occasions where the home inspector received a bonus for pointing out a number of concerns!

That's a new one on me.  I've had deals fall apart over a horrible inspection, but never refusal to pay the inspector.

Good morning Paul. Wow, that is crazy. The home inspector does a great job, too well and then the buyer refuses to pay. Not very smart, but I would have handled it the way you did.

 Good Thursday morning Paul. I had that happen to me once. Never got paid by either the client or the real estate agent. I refuse to do any more work with that agent.

that's never happened.... the home inspector should have taken that buyer to small claims court....

Thankfully I have not endured this one.  Not yet anyway.

A great example of an individual who had clear intention of doing what they had already planed to do...."BUY THE HOUSE" and the inspector made that logically impossible. Therefore...RESENTMENT usurped reason.

Before the gavel can fall on this case....we really need to see that report. There are inspectors ...well, you know.

That is just crazy.  And, LOL, I would have done the same.  Who wants a client like that?

That has never happened to me, glad you let that client go, I would have done the same thing. Someone willing to pull that is willing to do other things to mess up a deal that is for sure.

Once we had stopped the home inspection half-the-way with mutual understanding between the client and inspector where client did pay partial amount to the inspector.

No, thankfully.    I would not want to work with that buyer.

Sounds odd - but - that's strictly between the client and the inspector.

All home inspectors I deal with here in California want to be paid in advance outside of escrow.

I provide my Clients with brochures etc. from several different Home inspectors and let them choose who they like. I don't want to get into a situation where the Client claims that I led or recommended him/her to a particular Home inspector who then wrote a favorable / unfavorable report. The deal to inspect the house is between the inspector and the Client. I wouldn't work with the client anymore tho.
