What about women applying make-up while trying to drive? Then there is trying to eat and drive. OH! What about trying to light a cigarette while driving?

The point is; where does this all stop?

Sure Drinking while driving and Testing while driving are all distractions, and both leave a trail of evidence. This is more about revenue generation for the government and I am not entirely convinced it is primarily for our safety, however logical minds will think that it is for our safety and that is a residual effect.

Drinking and driving is worse because it affects you the entire time of the trip. Texting is usually sporatic during a trip. Both are dangerous and should be avoided.

Both are bad news... and both can be controlled. I recently had someone who was starting to drive into my lane head-on because she was busy texting. I've had friends and clients killed by drunk drivers. Anyone causing accidents for either reason should lose their license.

I can be a multi-task guy and use my cell phone to my advantage while driving to talk. Can't text while driving because it is too distracting!

Both bad news but the drinking and driving is the worst I believe.

Neither. They are in a tie with all other distracting activities which jepordise the saftey of yourself and other drivers. 

Neither is acceptable. Trying to determine which is worse is too late after someone is killed or injured.

They are both just stupid and out here , we now have smoking pot and driving.  Never a good mix.

I agree with Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI 100% most of it is more revenue income for government. I understand drinking and driving, past that it is getting ridiculous there are things way more distracting yet legal compared to texting.

Any distraction is a problem.

In fact, having focus somewhere else while driving itself is dangerous and should be avoided all the time.

My understanding is the studies show the texting is just as bad if not worse than DUI. 

I'm not a fan of talking without a hands-free devide while driving either.
