Uh duh? Christmas stuff out on shelves in September? I think so. I don't want to seriously think about Christmas related stuff until after Halloween and preferably not till after Thanksgiving.

Michael, our Main Street is completely decorated for Christmas. Guess we have to be thankful it was not done before Halloween!

Feel? It's ridiculous and has been for years. I think they are just lazy and put 3 holidays out at once. I can see Halloween and thanksgiving together (autumn stuff) but Christmas needs to be separate. It just doesn't seem exciting,nostalgic, whatever to have a lighted tree next to a wicked witch. 

I think from a retail perspective if they separated them and put in the effort then the customers would have to come back in 3 times instead of just once and there would be a greater change of much more purchasing. But what do I know.

It is a bit annoying.  It helps if you avoid the stores.

Good morning Michael. The retail industry is extremely competitive, everyone is looking to do everything humanly possible to make extra sales. Christmas for some starts in July, but personally it doesn't matter to me.

yes and the push is on because Xmas makes up for all the less than stellar performances prior. This is crucial to staying for the next year this time of year is for many a small business

They can rush it, I can ignore it. I think it's funny how irate people get over a silly thing.

It is teh world we live in and it sure will never go back. I dont get burned out, i love Christmas but do tend to avoid malls when they get busy.

we need to keep circulating money..... no spending means every business has a tough year...and they start folding.... the earlier the commercializing starts, the more evident that business is badly needed...

I do feel that way, but I do not let it rush me so it does not bother me that much.  btw I start listening to Christmas Music on Nov 1, because I like it.  

i like xmas for the young kids and its way too overplayed. however we only have ourselves to thank. if we didnt spend so much, they wouldnt do it

Absolutely, was at Home Depot yesterday and the Christmas displays are huge.   It is a money making Holiday for retail.

Well, some stores sell snowsuits on the hottest days in June and July.  Some stores sell Christmas year round.

It seems that stores are trying to get ahead of the competition by starting earlier.  Even Black Friday is starting earlier each year in the USA.

I was in NYC with my children two weeks ago - Pier One had Halloween decorations on sale, Thanksgiving plates etc, and Christmas decorations and trees - all in one little store! 

They always do, and so do most of the people.

Yes! I saw Christmas items out on the store shelves well before Halloween.  Maybe Christmas should be year round.  

I was in Lowes ...it seems like a month ago and they already had all the Christmas stuff out ....I would have to say yes!

Michael, I'm with you 100% and then some!  Half way into October some of the malls were already decorating.  I used to work in a retail company and their corporate offices, where I worked, started Christmas music the day after Halloween.

It has turned into such a blatant abuse of a holiday to drive sales it is just sickening.  I've complained to a few stores about this.  And then you get the flipside where Starbucks switches to holiday cups, removing all images of the holidays and forbids their store employees from saying Merry Christmas! 

I'm used to it. Yes, Christmas decorations are everywhere and I think, it is wise and convenient for those who are good planners:) 

Yes, it is way too early. I walk right past the Christmas stuff when shopping. I will wait until December to start thinking about it.

I saw artificial Christmas trees up and on display in Walmart in August. My answer to your question is...YES.

It misses the meaning of Christmas. It is too commercialized. A handmade gift is worth much more than some expensive bought item.

It's how they attract the customers.

They start before Halloween. It does not bother me. If There are things I need to buy I buy it then.

I wish the retail industry would not totally eliminate Thanksgiving from it's advertising.

I love it..it can start in September for all I care. I love the lights and the decorations, the music and the happiness. All of it. 

Absolutely!  I walked into a store on October 14 and they had Christmas displays out.  Before Halloween & Thanksgiving this is crazy.

For sure.  The day after Christmas look for the Valentine stuff.

Yes!  Christmas decorations, trees and music.  Way to early in the year.  It's not even exciting nor does it get me in the mood.

I'm with Joe Petrowsky the retail industry is extremely competitive and is always looking for an edge. I feel they rush Christmas but I'll buy when I'm ready and have time to enjoy the holiday spirit at the same time!
