As, Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers said, it would make Active Rain "pointless".  I am goal oriented and like seeing points accumulate but they don't really have any particular meaning other than to tell other members who is, or has been,  most active.  

If the primary reason to post on Active Rain was to gain points, I would say Active Rain is a waste of time.  Afterall, isn't the real  "point" of being on AR to interact, share, and learn from each other.... AND reach the public with our content and establish ourselves as the local expert in our market area?

The points keep you motivated to blog, but have made great friends, and lots of knowledge to be gained here in the Rain!

ActiveRain points are important to me.  It's one of the few things I like to collect.

While they are not redeemable, they have led to an engagement with other AR members as well as an incentive to keep on posting, commenting and even answering some silly questions(this is not one of them btw).

As wise Dick Greenberg once said -- points are genius.   Who(or is it whom?) am I to disagree with the Oracle from Fort Collins?

As there are other sites I belong to with no points and do not cost; yes as this site has a wider variety of topics covered.

Yes.  I don't get any points on my own WP site and I blog there!  I also blog in some other places wo/ points.

But, in all likelihood, I would prob. post less/comment less.

Roger D. Mucci I believe the point system was ingenious on ActiveRain's part. It brought out the competitive nature in agents and kept them here. After a while though, they lose this value to the old timers. I'm sure the members who are working towards a free account really like the point system. Myself, they aren't that important anymore.

I would blog when I had something to say.  Points are not why I'm here.  I want the phone to ring with real estate clients. 

Since I joined AR to blog and didn't even undertand they were point involved or why, the answer is that yes, I'd continue blogging.

Yes, I would, but it would not be as much fan. One thing I'm sure, we'd experience very few comments and visits from members. Points motivate, it is like a game, makes being here more fun, don't you think? 

yes I would, it's brought me business and friends.  In the end the ranking is really only important in my own market.  If someone was searching for a referral agent I'd be at the top in my area, that's all I care about.

I am competive by nature and admit to watching the points and celebrating milestone levels, but if they went away I'd be okay with that too.

Yes I would. I may not have gotten started like I did without the point incentive, but I've got a lot of friends here I like staying in touch with. The points are great. They keep the members motivated to stay active and engaged. Although it's not why I'm here and commenting on your question tonight. 

Yes, I would still blog here.  The points are fun and a way to stay motivated (for "A" personality types like myself)

Mucci.  I have to admit to not knowing how many points I have the majority of the time ...or if I've been awarded points correctly.  Maybe shame on me, but I've got more important things to be concerned with ...

Points are personal motivation...a way to reference activity and effort.. Kinda like a fit bit or any other tracking gadget !

I don't care about the points at all, I just want to learn from those who have succeeded and failed before me. Blogging helps me see where I have gaps in my understanding, improve my writing, and connect with others. Some of the best advice I've seen has come from people with a lesser amount of points.

I'm new and very low on points.  After spending time here the past week I now see the value of "The Rain."  

I really enjoy coming to discuss issues and read blogs.  Great place for gaining insight from agents across the country. Questions are another asset. Blog ideas and how to articles.  So much is shared! 

Sure the point system is a perk and helps motivate me.  But that's not why I'm here. 

I would probably still post for backlinks and SEO, but AR hasn't been my primary site for a long time.  The whole points system tends to distort the activity on AR.

Points only have a monetary value here for those who have under 500,000 points.  Thus, they have no monetary value for me.

I might be here to learn, but my participation would be greatly reduced and I would eventually loose interest completely. Then I may come back only when I wanted to learn specific things.

As long as I keep getting buyers and sellers from my posts I will be here ....also I would log on everyday just to stay up with what everyone is doing .....SO YES ....I would ....probably one reason would be to see if you ever win a rummy game

I would still blog for the google juice factor, if no points were offered.  Not sure if I'd do as many blogs though.  Some weeks I do limit myself to the 10 cap for points, other weeks I do 11 or 12.

i really dont care about the points any longer. i did in the beginning. i am number one in granite bay and number 16 in my county. i suspect i will hit top ten then perhaps get excited to reach number one in county?? then i really wont care...just be in it for the input and blogging
