We have not; use a real helicopter and the seller must pay for it.

If the drone operator has an FAA exemption then it's legal.  Otherwise - asking for trouble!

Drones offer many benefits, and I envision them having a positive impact in many areas of real estate.  I see surveyors and appraisers finding them extremely helpful viewing hard to get to areas; and I see many uses of small robots to view in accessible crawlspaces, attics, and drains.

Back to drones, where the benefits are so obvious; but there are risks, drawbacks and liabilities as well.  Hopefully we can count on users to also use their heads.

In light of the extreme jihadists' agendas, I expect even more Federal intervention into our professions.  And we already know FAA flight concerns.  I see gun control activists wanting to outlaw drones.  No surprise, but I SUSPICION you nor I will be the ones to blog on this issue.

It is very east to violate the FAA regulations. If you have a recommended professional, I hope you will include that information in a blog.

I have someone taking drone videos and photos for me.  They are hobbyists and give me the files for free.  I then edit and use them in my marketing.

It is currently legal in Canada if the laws and regulations are followed.  Otherwise, there are significant penalties.

Nobody is until the FAA approves the methods of registering your drone and passing your drone license, depending on the weight of the drone, if they go that way.  Last I heard, they were trying to come up with something in December.

Yes, although I don't have a drone and haven't used the photography yet.  It's one of those grey areas.  One is on my christmas list though, just because I'm a nerd who likes nerdy toys.

Personally, unless it is a big property, most homes don't need one.  Saw one on a friend's million dollar listing.  Drone flew the surrounding area, then the street up to the listing and then to the front of the house.  Some nice music in the background.  Huge gimmick that his brokerage does.  Cannot see that selling the house or getting someone to say "ooh, let's go look at that house it has cool drone photography."  In my view, it is a gimmick that agents can use to get a listing.  For most homes in my city, it isn't a benefit.
