I have spoken to several people that had no plans for today so if that is the way they want to spend the day why not?

Richard L. McKinney P.A. well, if the home is vacant, it's fine - the other agent can show - as long as you do not need to be there.

I sorry that he either has no friends to celebrate with or he has no control of his client

I have worked on the holidays, but I've never shown property on them.

No, I wouldn't have. Holidays are a convenient time for out of towners wanting to kick tires with zero intention of buying. Mainly they want to compare our market to their own. Or they used to know someone who lived there decades ago and they've always wanted to see inside it whilst visiting family!!
Usually they'll admit they have no intention of buying when questioned on the phone.

Yes. I have done it before and if called and I was available, I'd do it again.

I wouldn't. There needs to be respect for boundaries. And, I'm not that desperate for business. I have someone who called yesterday and asked for appt of Friday. I'll be meeting her on Sat morning because I need some time for me and family.

There is a window of opportunity every holiday but the rest is for family and friends.

Yes, I have. I would not show a property occupied, as that is not fair to the sellers. Enjoy the holiday.

I do not show on certain days and Thanksgiving is one of them. Besides, all my properties have an electronic lock box... I don't need to show properties to another agent.

I would have. My largest transaction took place on a holiday.

If it is a vacant, he/she can show it anytime.
p.s. I just wanted to mention that not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving.

Sure I would, whether he was a client of mine or a new one, but since it was vacant, there would be more than one of us attending.

Yes I have, and especially if it was a vacant home. People are in town visiting family and friends...

It depends on the time and my personal commitments. I have shown and sold properties on holidays.

No doubt, not this year but last year and years past, buyers ready , willing and able to buy. I always ask if it can be done Friday, i wait and listen why they need to see it today and if they are sound, ill show it.

Richard - It depends on a lot of things. If the listing was close to my home, and I had 45 minutes to an hour of free time, I might show the home. I also would have made sure the home met all the wants and needs of my client as well.

Personally, if it was one vacant home and I didn't have huge plans to celebrate a fake holiday like Thanksgiving, sure. Why not?

Good Friday morning Richard. If that was the only time that the clients had to view the property, why not? We are in a service business – not a self service business!

Honestly I would. My company is an international referral real estate network. Consequentially, I interact a lot with people with different countries.
It comes with dealing with different languages, cultures etc. Some of our users do not even speak English. I remember receiving such requests from users on ThanksGiving Day last year. Those interested in our properties were mostly from China, but also from the UK and Canada.
See, other cultures do not even celebrate Thankgiving, but my work is my passion along with helping people. I do not mind helping people on Thanksgiving Day, one of the most important celebration days in my country.

I've worked Holidays to accommodate clients due to special circumstances, but it is rare that it is needed.

I can't say that I have but won't say that I won't. Being from a vacation region it is a good opportunity because people are here for the long weekend. But my people always say let's wait till the day after or the weekend and I am glad.
As long as family comes to my house on Thanksgiving, Guess not, but if it changes, it's a possibility.

A vacant home.. Sure, we could have scheduled an appointment that didn't interfere with my family time.

It would depend upon the Buyers situation. If he/she was only in town for the one day or had other valid reasons for not being able to see the home the day after Thanksgiving I would probably show the Home. If that were not the case, I would ask to show the home the next morning.
