The first thing i would do is make sure everyone you know gets a phone call or at least a letter anouncing your new Profession.  And they should get this at least 3 ties in the first 6 months.

Gabriel Misters I liked the other picture and was going to say it was obvious you were into sports and perhaps you could tie that into your brand!  I'm not sure where you're located as yet, but there are athletes everywhere, whether they be armchair quarterbacks or actually out playing on the court.  If that comes naturally to you, I'd suggest you run with it!

Hi Gabe,  Lots of good suggestions here for you.  I implore you to get a shorter domain name and shorter email address.  It needs to be as short and memorable as possible!  I understand you're wanting to "brand", so figure out how to do that with fewer characters in your doman and email addresses.

I don't think you can brand yourself until you decide what you are going to be. Get a website that explains what you are and what you do...with a professional web address...none of the gmail stuff.

I see most agents trying to be the "everything" agent...anything that they can make a dollar on, they claim to specialize in.  The jack of all trades and master at none.  They are always chasing a deal and desperate to close a transaction.

The riches is in the niches. Take a segment and specialize.

If you are going to go after the athlete, than brand yourself as such, Personally, in a business where most dress sloppy, I like the fact that your picture says "classy".  I don't think you need  to wear a football jersey.

To brand yourself, you have got to be different...and I do not mean that you just claim to be better than another agent.  Take a road less traveled.  Learn everything that you can...be the expert.

Any niche at first is difficult because you have to give up junk business in order to do quality business.  I have spent many years building my brand of exclusively representing home buyers (never taking a listing) and now buyers are calling us.  I am busy with business when others are handing out their business card to strangers.

Regardless of what path you take, good luck to you.

Eve

Had to stop and read your replies. You have gotten some good answers. Looks like the most common response is to learn about the area you want to work and let everyone know your there. I also agree with branding.

First off, congratulations on your decision to get into real estate.  This is not a profession for the week at heart and you seem serious about finding out what is the best route to being successful.  If you work for a brokerage with other agents, be sure to connect with a top producer and help them, and let them mentor you so you can be the Best you can be at your skill!  Get on social media and blog and get involved in your community. Whatever you decide to do ... do it consistently and the benefits will reward you.

Learn and study your marketing and understand what sells, market time , what price and share this information .Tell your landscape customers you are in the real estate business and ask them for business and offer them services they can not refuse . I also would pick a new business name separate from your own name and brand that .?

Blogging can help.  But be sure that you have your own email adress and keep your client information someplace other than your broker's computer.  Some companies are pretty firm about using materials that brand the company.  Try to find one that will give you some flexibility.  And when you start settling and getting paid, it might help to invest in a professional graphics designer to do some templates for you to use for things like mailers and fact sheets and emails.

How do you want to brand yourself?  If you are not going after the Nike or athletic market, I would start with changing your photo.

If that is how you intend to brand yourself ... then run with that and tie everything you do to that.  Make sense?
