Think of it as a social event such as visit relatives whom you never met before. Introduce yourself  then ask them what they do.  Keep asking questions. Eventually they will ask you what you do. They will remember you because you were interested in them.  Have fun

The dynamics and protocol for business meetings vary. I was a member of a chamber of commerce meeting. We did a round-table sharing of referrals and each week someone presented.

You will be considered the best conversationalist in the room if you just ask people what they do and keep people talking about themselves.  Ask about their business and how you can help them.

I prefer the technique of collecting cards but not passing mine out unless specifically asked.  After the event, I follow up with a personal note to the people I met saying I enjoyed meeting them and hope I can help them in the future.  Insert your business card and a little blurb with your Unique Selling Proposition.  Keep them in your database and keep in touch by sharing interesting information about local real estate.

Your best friend who just happens to be a Realtor

Introduce yourself, and ask the other person their name, and what they do. Let the other person drive the conversation, allowing you to "connect" with them.

Don't worry, when you tell them what you do they will "think" they know what you do, but as you "connect" with them, they will find you are the exception, not the rule!  Most have a preconceived notion about Realtors, show them how you are different!

Usually an opportunity to introduce yourself and your business, plus informal networking. Depends on the structure and who organizes and runs it. A bit of structure is better so people know what to expect

I tried one in my small community. It didn't work and after a few weeks, no one even showed up. I can see these working in larger metro areas. Invite people and create a sphere of influence.

I would recommend asking questions versus talking about yourself. Make it about the people you are meeting and don't try to meet everyone.
