As Sam Shueh said, your MLS determines the timeline. The MLS is the one who will hit you with a violation and a fine if you don't operate within the guidelines.

Our MLS it needs to be on the system in 2 days? unless the seller signed there is no mls participation.
It has more to do with MLS than your broker.

It depends. There is usually one specified by the MLS and in the listing agreement, however, the listing agent and the Seller can agree to modify this time frame IN WRITING, which prevails...

It's up to the seller, but normal is within 48 hours.

We do not have this, if we have a signed listing agreement, it can go into the MLS that day.

I'd say varies on your mls rules. In my mls it is 3 days to change status or list. p.s. You can sign the RLA today but the listing day in mls to be days/weeks from now, so you have time to prepare the property and marketing material( at least, in our RLA a signing day and a listing day can be different).

The MLS determines it, I believe we have 48 hours or so to get it in. I get 'er done as soon as I get home.

It typically depends on the individual MLS rules. In California, we have a form that the seller signs and the broker approves that can withhold a listing from the mls for a period of time(or for the course of the listing). That form must be submitted to the mls for anything that is not input into the system within the required time frame.

Linda Burgin Forty-eight hours unless the seller specifies a longer period of time in the listing agreement.

My broker says 3 days.
I most certainly ignore that requirement.
The MLS has their requirements.
I most certainly ignore those requirements also.
I do that which is most beneficial to those that hire me.
There is an artful component to real estate and a engineering component. Those who wish to limit the solutions or control the options of the real estate professional, want to keep the entire business structure as close to a engineered business as possible. The 'One-size-fits-all' solution to a highly variable client base breeds the contempt for the profession so many report, you know like those car-salesman comments.
It takes courage to resist conformity.

Our MLS mandates within 48 hours, i like to put it in when i get it and get to selling without delay

This is a question that you would need to determine the answer with your MLS as rules from MLS to MLS vary.

Linda Burgin - different MLS may have different guidelines for this.
We also have a NON-MLS listing that we can start promoting. The listing does not go in MLS at all!

Our MLS allows us a few days to get listings entered after the list date, and to get the status updated, I believe it is 3 days. I have never seen the value in holding the listing off MLS.

MY MLS has a 48 hour rule. The only thing that trumps the rule the agreement itself. And many times my agreement says it shall be placed in the MLS the day I get the professional photos back from the photographer. That keeps me out of trouble with my MLS and keeps my listings looking good in the MLS.

Florida Realtors Association contract uses the term, "As a MLS participant, Broker is obligated to timely deliver this listing to the MLS. This listing will be promptly published in the MLS unless Seller directs Broker otherwise in writing."

WeE have to get in the MLS within a couple of days. There are penalties.

In our market, if we do not specify, it must be in the MLS in 48 hours. However, most of my listings are signed with an "on or before date" filled in. I have taken listings as far out as six months in advance.

Signed listing agreement can be different than effective date especially if there are renters in the property.

Our local MLS has a set number of days but one of the Century's biggest brokerages (hint hint) totally ignores it.
