Texas fiddled and tweaked them before they finally gave up and gave in
Only in stories from my father. Can't imagine anyplace (except Chick-Filet) holding to not being open on Sundays.
we still have blue laws....I believe permits need to be applied for if retail stores are to open on holidays and sundays....
We still have them. No wine or beer purchase on Sunday before 12, and car dealers must close on either Saturday or Sunday.
Never had an impact on me.
I must be old I do remember.
Bob Crane I lived in Massachusetts and Virgina when Blue Laws were still in effect.
In the UK in the late 1960s...
In NH they were miimal, i think the biggets was requiring a permit to open on Sunday. In MA our neighbor to the south, they were more expansive
We still have them on cars and alcohol.
A law that should not have gone away but as the illustrious government wanted more sales tax dollars they allowed it to be repealed.
Oh and it increased but not nearly as much as they thought!
Why yes, yes I do, thankfully they no longer exist
Good morning Bob. You are dating many of us for sure. Haven't thought about them for a long time.
Yes, I do remember some of the blue laws. I am aging myself.
No, this is news to me.
Not familiar with them.
Yes I do.
Yes I do remember them
I like having stores open on Sundays, though I do prefer to enjoy a day of rest for myself and my staff.
It has to be a personal choice, not a government action.
Like no booze on Sunday. All go to Sam's open house?
In America, the Blue Laws date back to the Puritans.
Many States and municipalities still have Blue Laws, mainly prohibiting alcohol sales on Sunday.
Minnesota still has it with liquor. No cars sales must be custom as both Mn and WI lots are closed.
Yes I do and it was hard to find a drugstore or market open to buy essentials. We were mostly out of luck.
Yep sure do. Haven't thought about them in years
Bob "RealMan" Timm Very interesting. I never lived in a place sales of any item restricted for religious purposes of blue laws.
About seven or so years ago, CO finally starting allowing alcohol sales on Sunday. To the best of my knowledge, car sales still aren't allowed.
They are still on the books in many small towns around here!
