I didn't. Lot's of "depends on" here like is your last name the same as a recent mass murders last name, is your last name Obama, does it rhyme with something that people would associate it with (and make fun of) like duck!

Here is my thought: my FB with my name has only 400 likes, my community page has around 4k. Both organic.

Not necessarily, it really depends on what message or niche you want to represent with your brand. But using your name can save some money and is a strong identifier.

It should be obvious what your company does by it's name.  Having your name in it in California, allows you to bypass needing a ficticious business name and gives you other benefits as well.

I would approach your decision from a search engine standpoint. Consult a local search engine specialist and see if having your name, or some other name, would help you rank higher in online searches. 

Your last name isn't necessary 

I don't think it's necessary. There are a lot of top producers here at big box brokers who have teams and just name the team after them (Joe Doe Team). And there would be a lot of time and expense involved in a name change...why bother?

Not necessarily!  It should tell the public what you do.  Don't make them guess.

For search purposes on the Internet you would probably have more clout if your name was in the business name. 

That is a hard one, but I have my last name in it.

But, if you are wanting to create a business that can be sold, I would follow the Blue Man Group or Cirque du Soleil model.
