Nice idea but would that solve the homeless problem?  Addiction, depression,mental illness?

No how could it if you realize the underlying issues of homelessness?

The issue is greater than the tiny homes movement.  

Anthony, there are plenty of homes in every city of America ready for someone to live in them.

I know in Atlanta, there are hundreds, if not thousands on the southern side past downtown. 

Here in Louisville, we have a LOT of vacant and boarded up homes on the west, and southern sides of town. Perfect homes with just a little effort for a homeless VET or other deserving man or woman.

A LOT of people make money on homelessness, when in reality "action" would be much cheaper to make homelessness less so, if not having it go away completely.

I think it could for the people without a home for financial reasons, but so many here in NH it is drugs or mental illness. I think they need to address that as well.

Over regulation is at the root of most homelessness, there are whole segments of out population that scare the hell out of landlords, because they know that under the current laws it will cost over 10K to get rid of them when they fail to pay.

And most cities and hoa's will not allow tiny homes and especially multiple tiny homes on a lot.

Agreed with Barbara Todaro . If they have jobs then it will be easy to afford many other things. There are many famous people that were homeless before and then become millionaires, not only can pay for a tiny house but mansions. For example is Emilio Estefan (Gloria Estefan's husband) he was homeless and look at him now. I read this on my "Aficionado's magazine"

Most cities have invoked laws that essentially make homelessness an incarceration event. Problem solved. St Petersburg,FL a past, but recent mayor make it against the law for a citizen to ease the suffering of those who are homeless. Yes, it is against the law to provide food for those who are hungry. Just think about that. OUTRAGEOUS!

However solving homelessness is not a physical problem and overwhelming a mental problem.

What may shock most people is the overwhelming majority of those who are homeless and seeking assistance are abandoned white women with children. The good news is there are 10 times more resources for these then the chronically homeless.

This is a problem one can not build their way out. The hearts of those so easily offender at the site of suffering needs to be changed. Current trends are going in the opposite direction of the right way. This was reflected in a recent 'pan handling' question.

No.  Not enough homeless people are tiny.  There are other factors that make them homeless, not a lack of housing.

No the problem is not so much having shelter as it is much deeper even down to preferences for some of the homeless to have that lifestyle and rejecting a more normal home life.

I highly doubt it.

Affordable Housing is an area interest to me and the concept of Tiny Homes could make an impact with a well orchestrated urban plan design to combat poverty, unemployment, and housing. I am not sure if our cities are committed to this kind of plan.

I wish.  I see that there are several cities which are trying this model.  When you go deep into the weeds and read/analyze how they are approaching the problem with the tiny house solution, although altruistic, their efforts are serving a limited amount of people at a very high cost.  I believe that the vast amount of money being spent would be better utilized elsewhere.
