Most of the Baby Boomers I know have moved countries and continents.  I find we're more of a nomad bunch than the previous generation.

That is an easy one for me to answer for myself and fellow North Dakotians. About 50% of us stay put right here, till death do us part. I'd say about 30% will purchase a "Summer/Snowbird" home for the worst 3 months of winter and about 20% will move to where ever the heck our kids went after college Susan Laxson 

Obviously, this depends on where they live, how much money they have and where their kids live.

I live in high cost and wealthy county, with some of the highest taxes.  So, I see a lot of people "downsizing" after their kids graduate and going to lower cost tax areas.  Sometimes, this means moving south to Floriday or North Carolina; sometimes, it just means moving nearby to a condo or co-op, where taxes are lower and there is less maintenace.

Many in the wealthier parts of the county get 2 homes.  One local and one down south.  Because the real estate is expensive here, if people have lived in their homes for a while, they can easily afford to buy a home in Florida or Carolinas for cash and still have plenty to spare.  In fact, many can afford to buy 2 homes for cash.

Generally here, when most move south, it is in same time zone.

It's hard to say and depends on each person's situation and family. As for me,  I'm moving out of Illinois and going to Tennessee. The weather is better, lower cost of living, and my In-Laws live there

Depends on where they start out . . . I'm in a retirement destination area, so unless too many old people overrun me, I'm staying. LOL!

Hi Susan I can speak for myself and I am a BB. I bought a retirement home in Mexico 11 years ago. Problem is I really like Miami. One day the traffic may just make me crack though and I will head down ole Mexico way for good.

I think a lot of baby boomers will end up in warm climates.

MY husband and I are in our home for the rest of our days.   We are comfortable with that but others are moving up, away or downsizing.

For ME, that's called "JOB SECURITY" !

So far we baby boomers have defied many of the predictions made for us. Some of us stay put and some move off for new adventures.

Unless I win the lottery I will likely need to more out of the state of California when I retire.

Debbie and I are boomers we will probably relocate near the kids when we retire.

I'm an early Baby Boomer and my husband was born in the late 1930's. We technically "retired" in Charlotte 18 years ago. I will not be moving to another retirement destination, myself. Charlotte attracts a lot of baby boomers for retirment.

After 26 years in Florida, back to my Chicago roots!

We are seeing 38M of them coming to Florida!

I'm a boomer...we moved here 30 years ago from up north and have no plans to leave this area. I have no plans to retire and we love where we live so expect to be here for the duration, unless something unforseen comes up.

Don't know about the rest but we will stay in Tennessee and visit our condo in Florida more.

It will depend upon each individual's personal situation, requirements and desires.

We had 18" of snow last night after 70* weather the day before. AZ sounds better and better 

I think a lot will depend on finances

I think alot will have to do with how their health is holding out.

Its a mix this movement is...They are a group to be reckoned with

We are seeing a mix here in NH, some moving to teh Crolina's, most to FLorida and some to Arizona. Others are staying put choosing to buy homes with their kids. Even more have moved away and are moving back. 

Depends on where they live now and if they can afford to continue living there.

I imagine they are looking for sun which includes CA, TX, FL, and AZ.

Some will stay nearby, others will move for family, climate, etc. Me? Staying right where I am...for now. Who knows that the future will bring

I think people are staying closer to their original roots....and their family members.....

We retired somewhere else, though had moved 3,000 miles away from where we grew up and went to school, decades ago when we were first married, and then moved again.  Though I don't see us retiring anytime soon . . . Susan Laxson, even though we are in the Baby Boomer group.   

I think it would depend on where the family is.   I have seen many want to retire close to family members to help them, and enjoy grandkids.

I like to be a bit of a nomad, but my wife says we are never moving again, so no more nomading for me.

I also heard that 90% of the have equity in the houses. 

As long as they keep moving, it's good for real estate and related industries.
