Glad my 17 year old hasn't inquired about going somewhere!

When I was growing up (many decades ago) it was Panama City and Daytona Beach. But I agree with Bob "RealMan" Timm ~ it's so much harder with daughters 

What's the normal population of Panama City?  

Reminds me of Forest County, PA, population about 5,000.  During hunting season population triples.  

Then there is Texas Panhandle where my brother lives.  There are twenty times as many cattle and pigs than people.

Happy to say i was not in Panama City during this time. Too busy for me. 

Didn't know that.  I've always heard Daytona and Lake Havasu aka "Lake Havascrew" in Nevada/Arizona.

Never did the spring break thing growing up.

I think it has been a popular spring break destination for many years.

Those things are so scary to us parents Conrad Allen I sure hope my daughter never asks to go.

Good morning Conrad. Wow, the locals that did not benefit income wise must have gone a little crazy.

Hmmm.  I live 90 miles from PCB, and I can attest that Spring Break there is almost dead this year.

    From the Panama City News Herald

"...Hotel reservations down more than 50 percent this Spring Break and businesses reporting sales down anywhere from 50 to 85 percent."

Businesses say the reduction is due to new laws passed to tone down the celebration, particularly the law banning drinking on the beach in March.... the primary reason for the decrease in visitors is the bad publicity about crime from last year’s Spring Break."

I have no idea why...perhaps the  city Father's don't proof age?

 That is incredible. I don't think San Francisco got to many people for the Super Bowl .....

The "Redneck Riviera"...much more affordable and shorter driving distance than south Florida = popular with students.

Panama City was big back in my kids school days and now has made a come back. This year they implemented curfews and no drinking on the beach to keep chaos from breaking out. There are roadblocks on the highways too to keep drugs and drunk drivers off the roads.

It appeared to have been a big mess as well.

I love that city, but never during spring break would I want to be there.

I do not read any papers, so I had no idea about Panama City popularity. I receive email from TravelZoo.

Debbie vacationed in Panama City for 40 years straight until she moved to the Albuquerque area.  She tells stories of all it offers and it sounds like a fun place.
