Can't imagine getting to $500k

Getting to the free 500k is a fun thing...back in the old days, it took twice as long to get there...now, there seems to be points for everything!

I wish!  I would have hundreds, possibly thousands of extra points.

Seems to me you have to contribute something in exchange for points. Upvoting adds nothing to the content...

I sill haven't figured out what good points do for you anyway....Can I win a trip or something???

Guess I have not noticed this, thought we did get points.

There are already plenty of ways to earn points.

It's the Active Rain gods who decide this.

Susan Emo has it right. It used to be that way but a few people abused the system.

The points for that were taken away months ago because Bob didn't like the quality of the questions and was trying to improve this part of the platform. You also used to get points for upvotes.

I just read everyone's comment and I guess there is nothing I can add.  I think it somehow cut down on spam, but not sure why or how.

Maybe because you can "like" it yourself all day long?

AR rules...and they change once in a while

Bob and crew removed them and a lot of the points a few months back.  I'm not thrilled about it.  I liked getting point for answers to my questions.  I've asked a few good ones that garnered 20+ responses each.  Would have been nice to have points too... especially since they were "just for fun" questions, not RE related where the answer would have been the most important reward.

Yes, they changed this.  As Susan Emo said, the reward is in the answers. They've had to curtail things a bit as many often abuse the system.  Before we were getting even more off topic q's from those just trying to get points.  We still get them, but at least they aren't as prevalent.

As Susan Emo pointed out, Bob and the rest of the AR team stopped awarding points for likes several months ago.

I'm trying to get to that free level too Deanna. Hope they don't change that just before I get there!!! 

Susan Emo has addressed this correctly and gets an Upvote from me although I'm not sure she will get points for it.  There are limits.   To points. Not to my thinking that she deserves an Upvote.

people were complaining about points for stupid questions so this was part of what some thought was the solution.

The breakdown is here.  That was something that points used to be awarded for, but it was changed.

I think the only points you get are ten for asking the question. This was changed many months ago. There are no longer points for having a question liked.
