I use a Google Calendar for the most important items. Flex items, aspirations go on a tablet and are mentally detailed. I always leave time in my day for the unexpected or inspirational items so I don't get overwhelmed.

Old school. Scratch paper. In order of convenience, furthest out in distance first, then work my way back if mapping. Complete OCD pixilation. But I get it done. :)

Mary,

My list is more often than not mental.  If I write it down, I retain it without needing the piece of paper.  I have done it on the laptop, ipad, etc.  A recent study of students in college who handwrite their notes, vs those who do it using electronics, found that those who had handwritten notes did better than those who did not.  I found that very interesting. I typically put things on my calendar, vs. a to-do list, so that I'm carving out time to do them and setting a reminder. Occasionally though I will make a temporary list on my phone for things that don't really require a calendar entry.

I use my Google Calendar for appointments only.  I use Wunderlist for goal lists that are not immediate.  I have several different types of lists in Wunderlist from shopping to personal to Real Estate items.  However, my daily task list is on my phone.  I use the App "Do it Tomorrow".  I love that App best.  It shows when I check things off too.  And . . . things that didn't get done that day automatically carry over to the next day.  I can add to it whenever I want and I often do it at night so I'll know exactly what to start on the next morning.  I can jot down "to do" things as they come to mind very quickly without losing little pieces of paper.
