Good morning Jeff. When I read that was going to happen, I thought it was an April Fools joke.

I did.  The last rate hike was a temporary approved measure when fuel costs sored.  It was to raise X # of dollars and that amount has been met by the temporary rate hike.

Yes, I incidentally checked postage for a letter to Germany yesterday and it came up with the new rate. Now, the question is, should I use up all those forever stamps I paid the old rate for or should I save them for when it goes back up?

That's good news.  I wish gas prices would not keep oing up and down.  It seems that if the Post Office can be consistant with their prices, the gasoline industry could also.  Can you imagine if the postage rates changed by 20% every other day?

Ugh!  So now my .49 cent forever stamps are worth less.  So much for hedging against inflation!

Isn't is amazing!  I just wish they would have more postal employees and longer hours of business.  I love our mail carrier and do appreciate the hard work and thoughtful delivery of our bulk mail packages.  I just wish the actual post office was open in the evening so I could ship and receive packages faster.

I did, I was at the post office dropping off my monthly Every Door Direct mailing and noticed a substantial savings. They announced the change a while ago I just assumed it would be an increase but was pleasantly surprised.

Funny, we always hear about the increases, but this is a first - a DECREASE!

I knew it when I bought 200 stamps and the total was less than the last time I bought 200 stamps.  What a nice surprise!

I did and that's why I waited an extra day to do my monthly mailing. Every penny counts at the end of the day!
