I'm with Val Evans on this. It's a paid ad. I've wondered how they keep the bills paid here so I'm not bothered that they are monetizing.

These are so annoying Mary Yonkers .  I wouldn't mind them if once I clicked the "x" to close them that ended their pop-up ability.  But, it is a constant pop, pop, pop!

Mary, I suspect the ads will rotate … just click the X and make it go away. I think we all need to accept the fact that AR needs to monetize to cover expenses. There are many people here that do not pay a monthly fee. 

Yes, I am. It's annoying, but I'm more concerned now that I can't upload pictures to Active Rain for my posts and all I get is the same ticket # response.

I understand AR may need to sell advertising but there has to be a better way... they already have ads... the pop up ads are soooooooo negative I am not sure why anyone would use them... I mean do a banner ad or a side ad or clisck here and win ad but the pop ups are really in your face negative...

AR has to pay for itself somehow. Although I do find the ads annoying. 

They certainly are annoying, I can't imagine that they are doing any good for the advertiser as they seem to piss most of us off.

I think we're just going to have to live with it, but I do wish they would put it somewhere other than "in my face". lol

My ad blocker seems to be blocking most of these. I am sure this is a revenue stream for ActiveRain.

    Still waiting for a reply from NoScript on how to block it.

    I understand that advertisements pay the bills, but this in-your-face stuff is over the top.

My suggestion is to use ad block plus.  Free, simple to install, and I haven't seen a single pop up on ActiveRain.

OMG! How dare ActiveRain bring any advertisers on board to help offset the bills. Ben Kinney and Bob Stewert should be spanked!

Stuff happens.  So does the occasional glitch.  Apparently, pop ups are a part of life today to help pay the bills.  I tend to concentrate on the things where I have control.  

Pop-ups look tacky and they annoy site users. What a great way to sell your product.

I don't pay any attention to who they are for, I just want them to STOP!

My browser has AdBlock and I never get pop ups here.

Mary Yonkers - well, it's a way for  ActiveRain to benefit a bit from partners.

I usually igmore it - and move on.

I use ad-blocker on Active Rain, no ads at all!!!

Bob had his baby a couple weeks early, so he may not answer.  Think this is a way for AR to garner some extra advertising dollars.

Interesting - the way my browser is set up (Safari on Mac) these appear to the left - and do not block the AR screen.  Not complaining!

Yep, I am getting them too, even had a discussion with Bob Stewart about them and I doubt they will stop.  ActiveRain is no longer about us, the bloggers, even though they try to tell us it is.  It is now a platform for them to push their other businesses and partners to make money using the huge platform that the bloggers have made it for them to profit from.

I suppose that all of us receive these. Just ignore the advertisements that do not interest you.
