I tend to have 2 to 5 new followers every day.... the best practice is to interact with new bloggers....and I mean interact not post a  cut and paste response.... read the post and comment on it as in making conversation.... relating to the post....

Barbara Todaro is right if you help new people they will become your followers.

I don't really seek out followers but I will follow anyone that follows me.

I primarily blog on my website when I blog - writers block now for quite awhile :(

I did not know that that was an objective, who is attracting so many followers?

I try to get over to welcome the new members and especially on their first posts. Lately it has been very difficult timewise. I do not have a proactive plan in place to get followers. Some members are very good about making the newer members feel welcome. Kudos ot them.

Those trying to do it are just proactively following people, esp new people hoping they will be followed back.  Some of them send emails to them, too.  And, some of them do copy/paste comments on their first articles. 

Waste of time, IMO.

Really! I didn't know there was a need to attract them except to just attract them. I guess you do get points for them, though.

I pick up a couple per week, usually people who I comment on their blogs or who like an answer I post.  I don't seek people out.

If I like what I read, I follow them and I have had new followers since I returned to blogging on ActiveRain. Why would it be important to check to see how many followers someone is getting?

I seek out no-one... they just sort of show up and I'm grateful.

I don't have a "follower" or "following" strategy although there are many members here I read to be informed, to be entertained and/or to ponder.  

I welcome and follow new members every day. Some of them will follow me in return.

It would be nice to be able attract local home buyers and sellers  as followers.
