In California, property taxes are impacted by Proposition 13 which typically limits increases but our state is famous(or is it infamous?) for finding other interesting streams of revenues for their coffers.

Our assessments were unrealistically high for years and finally this year they were adjusted downward. Let's see if the taxes will follow suit!
Haven't checked but I suspect some are going up as they did last year
Depends on the property - we have other types of assessments as well that affect the sale
Panama City, FL
I seldom pay much attention to these
They will go up this year .
Our home values have gone up nearly 10% per year over the last couple of years, taxes are definitely increasing!
I live in Florida. We have the Save Our Homes Constitutional Amendment. The assessment on your principal residence/homestead cannot increase more than 3% per year.
This is why affordability is lower in our community.
Gone up. Here in Durham, NC the assessments are only performed every eight years, and during the past eight years, we have been through the entire cycle of bust and boom.
Not out yet for my area, but I know that assessment values will go up for next year.
Hi Diana - We don't check that for our clients, but we do send out a mailing offering to pull comps if they would like to protest. We get a dozen or so each time, and they appreciate the help.
I'm in California, they always go up!
They always go up, up, and away here!
We have proposion 13 limiting the amount of raise. But all property assessement has quantum jumped when properties changes hands, Counties are smiling because they do not know what to do with collected taxes.....
Diana Dahlberg Around here when the tax rate goes down, the assessment goes up. When values go down the tax rate increases. Since they always seem to be a year behind, they went up this year.
It has gone up on all
our assessments went up .... not much but there was an adjustment...
Our taxes are rising and will cause more retirees to leave the area.
Not made much difference.
Ours have been flat for the most part.
Going up of course. All of my properties went up as well.
In NH they are redone every 5 years, assessments for us will go up sharply over values of 5 years ago,
Gone up & I don't think it's right. During the downturn years sellers were being 'over taxed' because tax rolls didn't follow market value for years. We are being reassessed this year & it looks like trouble.
We have a great feature in our MLS tax base that gives us the last 3 years taxes + or - . It's fast to check.
In my jurisdiction, property assessments and property taxes are handled by different authorities. Whether either goes up or down depends on the particular property, assessment issues, municipal or regional government and other factors.
Many of our hottest areas are going up.
In my area it is #1.
Good morning Diana. Both will happen, it depends on the type of property, but in most cases it will go up.
