My personal fb page is for friends, the business fb pages is where I do business, and I think it is important to keep them separate.

I have taken on the practice of delete all that are from out of state and all that do not have atleast 1 mutual contact.

I visit their page and then decide

On my personal page, I ignore them.

On my business page, I accept them.

We used to accept everyone in the wild west of social media.  We cleaned out all the weird ones.  Now we are careful and picky, picky, picky.  I ignore the majority.  A

In the beginning, I accepted friend requests not knowing to do any different. Now, I understand it better. On someone I don't know, I look them up. If I don't like what I see...it ends there. Request denied. Business? It will come

If you have no mutual friends and receive a friend request, check the profile. There's a miniscule chance it's someone you met and handed a business card at a busy function and forgot about. But, that probably isn't the case. 99% of those are fake accounts and you would be wasting your time accepting. 

Investigate.

After looking at their profile, they only have one pic, about 20 friends, etc., delete as fast as you can - those are not the people they say they are and are highly likely scams.

But if they have some substance to their profile that is verifiable, then I stop and think about it because there is an agenda there that you don't know yet and often it is..... to sell you something. All of a sudden you will be part of group invites and group messages. Then... delete.

And the list of "what ifs" continues...

isn't that what FB is all about - friends you've never met showing you what they are eating for lunch?

Ignore. In fact over time it is better to trim your list to those you have a connection with.

I ignore them  on personal page if I don't know them. 

I have a business page that people can "like" and I don't need to know you! On my personal FB page I ignore,  it can cause hacking problems and scams if they aren't who they say they are. 

My personal page is private and for family and friends only. My business page is open to the public and they are welcome to "like" it and follow the posts.

I totally ignore them & they creep me out. On LinkedIn I have people all over the world doing that.

Ignore. Delete.  Asking random people we don't know is just so odd to me. Why would anyone want to friend random people they don't know?

I 'ignore' and do not Friend on FB, if I do not know the person.  I also do not necessarily Friend a friend-of-a-friend, either.  For me, I do not think of them as a 'business possibility' Dan Tabit.

Most often, I ignore. Sometimes, I delete the request.

We get these and other "offers to link" on linked in...you are known by the company you keep...if you don't know them...pass.

Just delete them when they are spam. Those usually have a small number of friends. I receive several each day.

I check and if there are no friends that I recognize I delete them.

if their account is about 15 minutes old (no friends, no posts, 2 photos) and it says they are "widowed" and work US ARMY I block them. Then I report them as spam.

I ignore them. 

I will just ignore them, as they are usually just fake accounts.  When I get a request from someone that I don't know, I look through their profile to try and figure out where I might know them from.  If I can't figure that out, I don't accept them as a friend.

Do not accept.

I am just setting up and will have to decide onthat.

I don't accept the ones I don't know on my personal page. On the business page I will generally accept them. I do check them out first. You know...look at their FB page and see if we have anyone in common, and where their from and what they do for a living. 

I don't think anyone is doing business by sending random friend requests.  Unless it's accompanied by a message, ignore

Lots of these personalities are fictitious as far we have noticed. If limited photos, short timeline, no clear evidence of truth; we delete the request

Decline.  Too many idiots out there.

I did that twice and they were stalkers!!!  they IM'd me for days.... I finally learned how to get rid of them permanently.... unbelievable....

and they were friends with another AR member!!! I assumed that would be safe....NOT.

I'm finding more and more that the delete/ignore keys are some of my best friends. 

Watch it, that is how I got hack.

I ignore them.  I keep my FB Friends down to people I care about, friend and clients with whom I have a personal relationship.  Professionals I don't know I will Link to on LinkedIn, which I totally ignore anyway.

I check their page first to see if a real person, scammer or some type of sales person. It is easy to spot both types

I click on the profile and check them out. The spammers are out in full swing it seems right now. If they only have a few photos and nothing in their information settings, I will not approve them. Since my personal page is public with public settings, people can "follow" me without me approving them as "friends". If they are family, past clients, current clients, agents, brokers, community people like our mayor, people of influence, other fellow group members in groups I belong to,  etc, I approve them, of course. I am in the process of leaving Facebook.  Not entirely, but just getting back to family and true friends.

Previously, I accepted most people, but of course I researched them as best as possible.  There are some hucksters, perverts, and others that I don't want anything to do with.

With Linkedin, I will not take on another "FRIEND" wanting to sell me something.  That is up to you. Some realtors have 1200 friends.

What to do? Depends on the purpose to which you have assigned your Facebook presence. If it is list building, respond YES to the all.

On my personal page I have only my close family. On my business page, anyone can follow or like.

I visit their page and decide.  

Dan, best course of action is to have a separate page for your business.  People can like that until they're blue in the face.  Keep your personal page to just your friends and family.
