Does that make them successful?  Or is it just another thing that is a "good idea".  Drones are best used for high end properties and large parcels of land.  Do they ultimately sell the home?  No, they are just part of the presentation, homes were sold before the drones and will be after the drones become an antique and a new device comes on the market...

I am also surprised the number is that high, given the fact that any commercial use of a drone without a pilot's license or a remote pilot certificate from the FAA is illegal. I don't typically link my own writing in Answers, but I wrote about this recently and it may be helpful for anyone interested. Don't want anyone trying a new idea and accidentally getting in trouble. 

yes...Eric has a drone and uses it only on high end homes and new subdivisions..... we also use it for presentations of tracts of land for developer/builders.....

"the eye buys" and aerial photography is an eye catching tool to use..... we have sold high end homes by using it....

No I do not because I don't want to get qualified with it. I know 2 people that I can hire that think it's alot of fun. Me, not so much.

Also, if I had a different area I would use it but I am in suburbia.

Yes, my photographer uses drone photography and I utilize the best photos for my business and typically will include drone photography.  Not just for higher value homes either.  I won't be using them myself for my own photography however and I will hire a professional who knows what they are doing.  

I haven't seen one used yet. We are close to DC and some major airports where there is lots of restricted airspace.

The 44% statistic seems far too high.  What is the source?  Most people I know do not own or use drones.

I was all set to buy one last year when the government decided that they had the right to take away my right to use one without ridiculous regulations.

     That number seems awfully high. 

     Agents with waterfront property, large acreage, luxury homes are using them. 

     Some home inspectors are doing the roof inspection with drones.

I would use drones, but for some reason they don't sell the really cool military grade ones.  

I've wanted to buy one of the DJI Phantom drones, but more because I'm a nerd and love toys.  Have yet to have a legit business reason for one though.

No I haven't because most of my listings are on small lots in the city with very close by neighbors. I don't think seeing the junk in the adjoining neighbor's backyard will help my marketing one bit. If I had a country listing or a bigger piece of property you bet I would.

I'm in a no fly zone here in DC.  So a commercial drone could get me into the slammer.

 I think a lot of people would like to use drones, but Realtors have a great excuse and it's probably a tax write-off as well.  Playing with the latest toy doesn't get much better than that!

I have a Pro to avail of his services for high end homes, mainly waterfront or large acreages.  I have no intention of using one myself.  Even my Pro has had 2 crash into the water because of a change of winds!

We have professional photographers that use drones for our aerial photos and I think those are very helpful to selling many of our larger estates, golf course homes, and waterfront properties.

No, I don't. Just not into "toys." Then again, I also don't have a camera except the one on my phone and I forget to use it. But I do have a great friend and neighbor who would "drone" my houses if they needed it. He's an awesome photographer, videographer, editor, etc.

I dont use them personally but I hire photographers that use them.  They aren't for all properties but large estates and for providing an overview of the area for out of town buyers is definitely helpful.
