Depends on the style of the home and the type of siding. My home was yellow for many years (people seem to love yellow) and last year I repainted it a violet blue and get tons of compliments.

When I think about it I've seen homes of all colors that I've liked. I personally like classic & clean looks with contemporary design - whites, lots of glass.
What color sells a house fastest? GREEN! ; )

'Used to be' that yellow houses sold faster but that is ancient thinking. I'd run from a yellow house & a few other 70's colors.
No pepto pink, no spider man blue (I did a post on this once & called it 'butt ugly blue'.

We don't have many houses that require paint in my area. Mostly brick or stone. I'd say it depends on the location; is it woodsy, at the lakeshore. And it depends on the style of the home: modern or vintage?
At the end of the day, it is to be whatever colour the homeowner feels good with

It depends on the style of the home, what color sells a house fastest; the one that has great curb appeal.

I have always used a sand brown with white trim in our area.

I believe in our area (and yours is probably similar) that a light yellow sells best. I've seen a few pretty blues work very well, too.

Nicholas Crane, colour does a lot for a house. If it is too small, light colours make it seem roomier. Soft colours that contain some amount of gray in the colour have a lot of elegance, and when paired with white trim, this is a classic look. Elegance and beauty sell. Versions of blue-gray, green-gray and simply soft grey are most common, but the possibilities extend to many colours as long as they are unassuming and calming. Stagers advise clients to remove all strong colours and generally use neutrals, because neutrals disagree with so few personalities.

I like rock, log or Texas sandstone trimmed in barn yard red or sienna. Many homes in our market are tri colored, using different finishes.

Nicholas Crane - I like light color - cream, off-white.
Which sells fastest? The one with the price closest to market value!

i think the color is a bit dictated by the style, and surroundings (lots of trees) or lots of desert

Nicholas,
A soft yellow color sells well in certain neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Every area has its preferences. It is hard to have it as a fact. A

It depends on what it's built with. I like classic red brick if it's brick, maybe with dark red or dark green shutters. Wood or siding, there is a shade of yellow that is light and buttery and looks great.

I like a muted color with contrasting trim, like this one on Fernando's site recently.

Really depends on the architecture, vibe of the house (modern, mid-century, colonial, etc.) and the neighborhood and any regulations. Also, the color of the roof! Can't have clashes there!!!

Neutral clean colors ... with a nice accent for trim. Anything bold and bright like blue, green, yellow ... not a hit.

I can't answer this question. It would depend on the home and the surroundings.

I prefer a soft yellow if it is siding or stucco, but most builders use a neutral color like beige or gray. If it is brick, I'm all about the traditional red tones.

Depends on the architectural style and the setting --- not one particular favorite. The overall curb appeal certainly enhances a home sale but doubtful that there are certain colors that will make a home sale faster unless one of the major paint companies has done a study.

Neighborhoods have a way of conforming. Visit new construction projects to see how all the new units compliment each other. Light colors with trim, pop-outs or landscaping all make for pride of ownership.

right now, any shade of gray with stark white trim....
blue is the toughest color to sell.....always has been in my area...

Sometimes colors are controlled by HOA's. Otherwise, neutral colors depending on the type of house. I've seen some farmhouses that look good painted a lemon yellow, others look good white w grey trim, or grey w white trim. The choices are endless. http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/

There are many factors that are taken into consideration when buyers purchase a house. Each person has different colour preferences.

Gray is the most popular now. I like it. But for me it is not about colors but the whole style. My favorite is antique white.
