Keep sending it.  Yes, we all get spammed, but now and then a great headline will get our attention, and we will read the article or email notice.

I could tolerate the REALTOR spam when our MLS was a manageable size but it's exponential enlargement fills the mailbox now. As long as my customers wish to use email I shall too! For agents and some others promoting their wares I offer this: Knock, Knock, Knock

I don't really know.  My sense is that unless I am in a transaction with you there would be not reason for you to be sending me emails.  If you were ... then I would most likely be considered spam by me.

Depends on what you want to communicate. There's a lot of email out there that's junk. Are these agents that know you? Locals or a referral network?

I am not a fan of receiving so much email. I get tons of newsletters from agents and lenders and have added them to my junk mail list. I would think some consumers will share this opinion.

I want a personal relationship, not getting generic time wasting junk like rate sheets. By TALKING either face to face or by phone and asking permission to send relevant and timely information, coming from a place of contribution, some agents might actually want rate sheets, you don't know how you can enhance and earn their business if you don't ask. Shotgun email blast, IMO, alienates more than converts, better to have 100 loyal readers than 1,000 deleted emails.

If you hate spam, you can bet that your database does.  So if you are going to send them something, it had better be amazing.

I feel your pain there!  Losing a database is rough.

If you have a relationship with the agents, email is good.  If you don't have a relationship with them, it'll be seen as spam and won't do you any good.

It depends upon the particular agent you are communicating with.  Some prefer email, some prefer other methods.  It also depends upon the purpose of the email.

Is there a better alternative?

Go ahead and email, but it will be best to make the emails meaningful, we all get far too many emails from people who just want to keep their name in front of us, those get ignored.

If you have something important to say then send out that rare email and hopefully it will not get ignored.

Email is good as it gives you a way to save the communication and refer back to it if needed.

The best way I have gained business is writing articles for a local newspaper. It is a regular paper newspaper and is online.  (I am a lender too)

Yikes -- sorry to hear that, James.   As I answered and commented on your other question -- work the personal connections you have developed over the years.    Try something that everyone else is not doing like meeting face-to-face.  Good luck.  Looking forward to reading some of your success stories.

The info I send out is typically mortgage market related or helpful stuff to agents I know. But, I recently changed jobs and need to meet new agents. I do appreciate and respect the agents time and want to help their business but don't want to spam agents. As a 33 year veteran of the mortgage industry and past Realtor I have much to offer but don't know how to say that without using email and not sounding like a car salesman. Just so hard to figure out the best way to help and communicate. Thanks for your replies.
