Not if they are copied and pasted. The reason why is that consumers often skip right over a pack of numbers. Making the market report blog interesting with more than just a boat loa of data is the key to getting anyone to read it.

Roy,
If they are copied and pasted, they are someone else's work, not yours. If they are used as a point of reference and discussed point by point, then that is fine. Otherwise, I think they are not acceptable. A

Scott Godzyk is correct, we have to make it an interesting post regardless, but they are acceptable. Not all our blogs are for the members, many are directed at the public. In my e-mails & auto responders: I use my blog to list my team so people can click a link at a glance. I use blogs for vacation notices so people can click a link at a glance know who to call in my absence. Etc. But, we do use market stats posts to grow our Localism.

I think it depends on the data used --- if it's merely cut and paste, then my answer is they are not acceptable. If it's a part of a post, the information should be cited and hopefully interpreted by the author/member but I'm not an expert on AR protocol.

Well, there are 100's in my area that are posted every month with just 2 sentences & a photo of what is available in the MLS for that town.
Suddenly that is not ok?

Why not? Isn't our real audience the buyers & sellers in our market area.
Yes, some are more interesting than others, but 'number guys' don't care. "Just the facts, sir/ma'am!

Roy we do take the stats from MLS and use in our formats, not MLS produced charts. But I am pretty sure other agents may use some MLS charts and I don't see any issues with that as long as MLS provides them for their use.

I believe if one copies and pastes an MLS report and ads no isight as to what that report means or analysis of the numbers they should simply click the (not my content, but I have permission to use it) box. I don't see taking ponts for non original content one did not create... as those are the rules here on AR. But I think it's still fine to put in a blog post to share the information.

Roy, of course, the use of raw MRIS data in any original post where the blogger interprets this data for the public is fine.
But when a blogger takes a report that either MRIS or some other organization has published with data and interpretation and then does a cut and paste of the entire post as if the interpretation was his own, that is not cool.
Any time you use other writer's articles or notices verbatim without attribution and permission, you are violating ActiveRain guidelines. And when you use other writer's articles and notices verbatim with permission and do not check the box stating this is not your material but you have permission to use it, you are violating ActiveRain guidelines.

It depends on what your objective is, hehehe,
If you just want points and don't care about anything else, then go for it.
If you want buyers to call you , then no , dont' do it, because they don't understand half the lingo on there.
If you want sellers, never do it, you look like a poor marketer and that means you look like you won't be blogging about your listings.
If you want to connect with members here on ActiveRain, don't do it for most members will be turned off by it.
Does that help?
BUT if you are enhancing your market reports with the data from the MLS< go for it! That works!
