This sounds like something you better turn over to an attorney.

Who handled escrow for this transaction?

A real estate attorney would be the one to go to for an action to Quiet Title.

Every state is different, but in Missouri you can go to DMV and apply for lost title.  Just take all the docs from the title company with her and a copy of her homeowners insurance w real estate tax receipt for prior year.

Here in California, she can get in touch with the Department of Housing and Community Development, get bonded for 3 years, and sign some forms on which she gives the history of the transaction, get tax clearance. For the bond, she will need a copy of the check and whatever she has when she purchased it.

She purchased the home in 2006? Find out the title company asap! That is a great start. Then, who was her Realtor? Some don't discard records after three years. Never know.

If she cannot afford an attorney, let me know... I have helped translate in so many cases and will be gladly to help. 949.310.4960

Rose Mary Justice Like a car title, the bank is responsible for holding the title. The fact they can't find a record of it is their problem. As already stated here, it is time to turn it over to an attorney.

Did she get title insurance? You might try contacting Chase and seeing if they will release the title or let the title insurance attorney do it.

There is a way but not to be discussed here is one answer. Another? Is there title insurance? What does escrow have to say about this? Their records? Lastly...track down the pre-foreclosure owner and offer up some incentives

I'm not sure of the wording here. You can't foreclose on a mobile home. How can you buy something with no title getting transferred?

You need an attorney ASAP.
