Working in publishing and editing for a long while, proofing is second nature to me. HOWEVER, this is an age of warp-speed communications, so there are areas where latitude must be given - text messages, for example. Despite best efforts, I get autocorrect-spanked on occasion - and can somehow read past most autocorrect mistakes and understand the true intent.
And having lived in the IE for decades,  I bet a few people saw that and were like, "700 again? When will it cool off?"  3:)

Since I know that I make mistakes I do my best to ignore the mistakes that others make and hope that they respond by ignoring my mistakes.

I love to spellcheck but unfortunately it doesn't know how to spell in Canadian !

I make a lot of mistakes when texting. Iphone keeps correcting you and it just happens.

I once had a text that was auto corrected to read lusting agreement instead of listing agreement. Thank goodness my seller had a good sense of humor. 

I'm even careful with editing, even with text messages.  

It is important and remember getting a client in the old days because my relocation letter had correct grammar and spelling while other agents' did not. However in this day and time I am much more forgiving because people are in such a hurry. 

Yes, for me it's proof-reading, as SpellCheck can easily have a 'wrong word' in a sentence, even though it is 'spelled correctly' Annie Adjchavanich.  I always proof-read, and it's just something that I do in texts, anything posted, and e-mails which are casual and social, to anything that I may write/create.  You just never know when your fingers can be on the wrong keys!

I was an English teacher for 20 years so yes, proofreading and editing and rewriting are part of any significant communication.  Spell check, however, may not be your friend in this endeavor.

Yes, it's important.  I even use proper English (and punctuation in my texts.   I love it when I create a long post then run spell check with no errors.

I see a similar trend my neighborhood online temperature is 20 degree warmer than another town 3 miles away. Looks like a calibration issue-out of whack.
