I have mentioned many times that Obamacare is the silent plague that WILL send many into bankruptcy.

My existing policy, the only one I can afford would have me pay $16,000 out of pocket before they pay the first dime. Next year the premium will increase so much I am seriously considering paying the penalty and putting ink on my body reading DNR.

Are you aware that Canadians visiting the USA are required to buy an Obamacare health insurance policy for the duration of their stay. As you point out that can be $1500 a month per person. Maybe it is insurance costs, not the exchange rate, that is  why our neighbors to the north are wintering elsewhere.

When taxpayers pay the healthcare costs of all of Hillarie's Syrian refugees,  the magnitude of this transgression will become much clearer.

Through the roof!  The cheapest plan is now almost $1300 a month for my husband and me with $7150 deductible and $70 co-pay. No more HSA as well. These costs will really impact home buyers. Will they qualify for a loan with this increase in health insurance?

That is what happens when we let government have control of our everyday lives!

I pay out of pocket and still pay the penalty, something is so, so, so wrong.

If someone does pay, there should not be a penalty.

Michael, we will not find out until November 1st as United Health Care has canceled our coverage for 2017 as they are pulling out of Indiana.  (This is our second policy we have had canceled in the last three years).

The sad truth is that only the 15% of Americans who are self-employed with no spouse covered through their work are paying the brunt of the Affordable Care Act through the individual mandate.  It is brutal out there as our coverage has gone from $450 per month for a family of four before the ACA to $1308 per month for my wife and I for 2016.

Unless there is CHANGE in this election this will go on until the large corporations and small businesses start dropping their employees and forcing them onto the exchanges as it is cheaper for them to pay the fine for not covering employees.  ( Which by the way, our US Justice Department has said will happen with 35-75% of employers by 2018.)  

That's scary.  How could one afford almost $2k in health insurance cost per month? I'm covered under my husband's health benefit but if I don't have it, I'll probably look for a job so the employer covers it. 

Being forced to participate or pay a penalty for all this if you don't enroll is the insult. The injury is the amounts required even if you don't use it and if you do, the deductibles, small print and double talk, waiting times etc. are overwhelming and distasteful to boot. I have seen the medical systems up close. Full of over billing, unnecessary procedures & lots of waste, and false attention.... they remain a burden almost like a sickness unto itself

Don't worry, when Hillary gets elected as Queen of America - we won't have enough money to pay the fine of NOT having insurance so we'll all be homeless or in paupers prison

It gets worse! No real numbers till after the election.

Ours is going up over $400/mo. Plus car and home insurance also making a significant increase - insurance is out of control.

I have always suggested to my staff that marrying a person with a good govt job is a good idea.

An agent I am working with on a sale told me they will have to pay $14,000 out of pocket next year before insurance kicks in. There is nothing affordable about that

The need to stay healthy becomes even more important...

Being well over 65 years of age, I'm "lucky" as I'm on medicare and additional coverage premium isn't bu $25/month. But been hearing lots of horror stories.

I see in my crystal ball:  Medical bill bankruptcy will be on the rise because people can't afford health insurance.   

I have not received my Open Season packet or a new premium notice on my current plan yet. 

the beauty of being older than 65 is Medicare....and for that I'm thankful....

6 years ago, blue cross blue shield's best program cost ME $1,750/month....and I never used it... that same program must be $2,500 for an individual now.

Thankfully at the moment I am covered under my wife's policy. But when that ends...

More people will just go without health insurance.

We're on my husband's plan and that one stinks too!  We pay over $1k a month & are bracing ourselves for yet another ridiculous increase.  God (please) Bless America... cause we need it!!

When an Act is implemented with the catch phrase "you have to pass it to read it" it definitely isn't going to have a good result. Premiums are one aspect, however, rarely do you hear about the deductibles mentioned in the same sentence. I've been saying see what happens in 2017 since the ACA's passing. 

We've been covered by Virgin America the last 5 years. 

OK here but.....

For the same reason many young agents have taken benefitted job leaving oldies envious of their free 3 meals, perks, massage stock option free. One brand new agent got a paid benefitted buyer agent job flying in a private airplane showing homes. The bus tour gimmick loses its interest. The affluent wants more.....

Many workers at Twitter near here need to find an insurance provider. Retrench time again.

I have seen a few on FB post their payments are increasing substantially.  Think we shall see quite a few paying the penalty.  SAD

In Canada, we pay through our taxes.  Many Canadians also purchase private health insurance or receive it through their employers.  It covers things not covered by government health insurance.  Many also purchase private outside of your province and outside of Canada health insurance policies.

All we can be told until Nov. 1 is that it is going up as much as 67%.

I expect mine to go fron $495 with a $6800 out of pocket to about $750 with a $10,000 out of pocket.

Don't kow for sure , but it would not surprise me.

Thankfully I do not have to participate in it. My hubby is retired military and we use Tricare.

With these rates, it might be cheaper to just pay the penalty and save the $2k/year for the medical expenses.  Crooked system.

Medicare is stable and I haven't seen what my supplemental insurance will be for 2017.
