Yes it does. It has a lot to do with the overall office environment & how much support, help that you get when you need it. Having seasoned people around can make or break your deals.

John Peak I disagree! The Broker is there to assist and help you become a bigger success.

It's probably more important for a new or newer agent just starting out for support, training and mentoring.

It matters most to new agents for mentoring and training... but, having a poor designated broker and being in a negative environment is bad for all agents.

Culture over Broker, but to your question-maybe in year 1 & 2 yes the actual broker plays a role, by year 3-not so much; by year 3 an agent should be able to move around and be fine under any flag if this is their passion.
That said, previous business experience plays a huge role. I'd succeed anywhere I go because I've owned 5 businesses and I'm passionate about my pursuits. I work educated and hard at my craft. I'm tenacious. I can't say that about all Realtors, many came from w-2 jobs and treat RE like a job.

Yes, in so far as they create politics and BS that the agent has to deal with. If your broker stays out of your way, all the better.

Your FIRST (or first DECENT) broker does matter. New agents rarely know much about anything, but especially not best business practices. If they don't get decent training and guidance at the beginning, they acquire bad habits that can be hard to break. Then they become brokers (usually before they're ready) and make everyone's life tough. LOL, I'm jaded. But you can tell the ones who have had "1 year experience repeated 20 times" from the ones that have 20 years experience.

Yes. The training beyond getting a license is critical. More important than broker is finding the right mentor.

I’m of the same mind. It’s more considerable for rookie agents. A new real estate agent will have to work under a broker for a certain amount of time before they can start their own office. So, it’s important for them to find a really good broker.

It is what a individual puts into it but also you need a broker that will help get you started in the right direction.

Yes, the chemistry between the agent and sponsoring broker is the nucleus of the success of the agent!

Not at all. I am about doing my business and it's up to me to be successful. If you treat people right, your business will grow no matter who your broker is.

It can if you are not getting the support or training you need. But a true entrepreneur knows where to turn to get what he needs to be successful in the business.

Yes. It will matter. The broker should be like a coach. The one we turn to for support and encouragement.

a top producing agent WILL produce, no matter where that license hangs....

Your opinion counts...If you can get the support then fine. If not, carry on

Yes, i agree with your statement. Yet, some agents do not want to deal with additional tasks like management, liability, they also value additional company marketing and perks.

For the new agent this decision is crucial.
After an agent has figured a few things out, the broker matters very little.

It's true that a top producing agent will be successful no matter who their broker is, sure. Some people just have that gift and ability. But what about the higher percentage of other agents who don't fit in this category? I wholeheartedly believe your choice of broker can make or break an agent.

Yes, it does matter. At one point I was under a brokerage who was extremely uptight with rules and regulations and policing every single document and how it was filled out. It limits what I can do for my business, I can't work with absentee owners/investors as helping them fix their properties to be listed is considered crossing over to property management, I can't work with relo company because the brokerage will need to hire another office person just to take care of the paperwork and to make sure agents are in compliance etc. In other words I can only work with clients under certain criteria and that limits the growth of the business.

I believe it matters more for those starting off in the business than those who may be more seasoned.
