One of the old MLS's that went out of biz was basically selling ownership shares so this was the same thing. The owners were definately called partners & they were the largest brokers in the area. Never thought about the money end of it until just now.

I wouldn't know if they are, but I seriously doubt my BBR ownership trio would play that game. Our MLS is dealing with it's own issues, potentially dismantling in 2017.

Our local board is a stockholder in our regional MLS and the board gets a yearly dividend from $40,000-50,000 each year. That goes toward member services.
