it's great for the birds and insects.... I prefer to cover it....place my dough in a bowl covered with foil and a linen towel.... then placed in a preheated slightly warm oven that's been shut off before the dough is place in the oven....

Hmm --- I'm not a baking expert and my Frisbee flying days are in the past so I'm once again clueless.

You are asking the wrong person here, Olga... I know nothing about baking bread! Maybe this is out there to feed birds?

Not in my neighborhood. The power of the sun is fine... on a table and covered.

I would think the sun's rays would be so intense that the bread may actually bake. I wouldn't want my bread out in the elements.

Are you sure this is for bread to rise? It has to be covered to keep it from drying out. These are surely for something hard and flat, not rising dough.

Reminds me of when I was a kid --- a friend of mine "invented" a hot dog cooking machine with an aluminum box, some mirrors, and saran wrap.....he put the hot dogs in, let the sun cook them, and rotated them accordingly.
Me? I went home, tossed a couple hot dogs in the microwave, and called it a day.

I remember as a kid the windows open and bread rising near it; oh and don't touch. We did not worry too much about the bugs then!

hmm well I suppose there are all kinds of bread so maybe this works for a particular kind of bread? I have always covered mine with a floured kitchen towel kept for just that purpose.
