No, not in my state at least. I am incorporated under the RM umbrella so to speak. That would be the group name, team name or singular.

The State of Maryland has regulations covering groups, and Virginia and DC less so. Everyone seems to be cutting down on their ability to advertise as if they were autonomous. Broker affiliation has to be obvious.

I think it depends on what state and city they are in. AZ has specific rules for how non-Designated Brokers may form business entities within their company-- and what protections those entities do and do not provide them.

Check with your broker. Most dba needs to be registered with the county. There are some city ordinances that requires businesses also to register with them.

our MLS has a rule that if a "team" exists that it must be indentified in the MLS as a team and in advertising stats from the MLS as a team. But all other things must still carry the agents name as it appears on their license and their brokers name (all advertising)

It really depends on the state's rules. In CA my understanding is if you use your name as the team name, then no. Same for business names. For example, when I researched creating a consulting company and using my last name as the first word in the company name, a DBA was not required unless I wanted a business bank account at Chase.

Each state has their own regulations. I know when I worked at ReMax they had a DBA.

In California DBA's must be registered and recorded ... and renewed every four years. Check with your state and/or check with an attorney or your broker.

You would need to consult each individual board to find out their rules. In my jurisdiction, issues dealing with DBA and registration issues are addressed in the relevant laws, regulations and rules legislated by the appropriate government legislature.
